Let's EAT.

Greetings from very wet Florida,

I am thinking about trading my truck in for a boat, We have had two weeks straight of rain, Yes we need it, would be nice however if it would kind of spread out a little.

Today i did something interesting i went to this place called "Let's Eat" it is this cool place where you can go and fix meals for your families , and everything is done for you.

You just go online if you want and order what meals they have, you can also order their suggestions for sides or make your own. They even suggest the wine and the dessert.

This place is a no brainer. I know what you are thinking expensive , but it is not i made five meals with all the fixins for around 100.00 now i could not have done that good in the grocery store. And if you trust yourself you can even drink wine while fixing your dinner .

You go in and you pick up your menus then you go to all the stations already set up for you and start fixing all the spices and condiments and vegtables are chopped and ready to go ( this is my favorite part) All i have to do is put the recipe together.

Then i pack it up put the meal in the refegirator and go to the next meal. all the sides are already done and bagged for you.

This is so cool for me because i am working that 2nd shift and all i have to do is make sure things are thawed out for my family and all they have to do is put it in the oven and they have a great home cook meal. Same when i am home. There is no more that question at 4 what am i going to fix for dinner?

The other plus is that this place is in my favorite spot you guessed it Winter Park and it is right down the street from my favorite shop Bullfish, So of course i had to stop by and get something for my puppies. :)

Speaking of which tonight in the break from the rain, Ian and i took the three dogs for a walk, they did great. Gidget tried and succeeded in keeping up with Taz. snoop was just happy to be out, He reminds me of Eyore from Pooh. " Well I guess i will go for a walk" :)

I had a long talk this weekend with my talented friend from Iowa, Lynn. She has this pattern company called Bloomin minds and she has some of the neatest things. I had not talked to Lynn since i left Nebraska a year ago. Yes Next week I will have been in Florida a whole year.

All this rain has my allergies going to town, and my meds are kicking in so i guess i need to wrap this up.

I am including the websites to Let's Eat and Lynn's pattern company. When you see her website you will understand why we are friends. :) Lynn's website http://www.bloominminds.com/home Let's Eat Website www.letseatdinner.com

Peace.

Happy Memorial Weekend

Greetings from steamy , hot and very wet Florida,

I am sitting here surrounded by my puppies, they are so tired of all this rain. Especially Taz he hates to get his feet wet, for such a guy he can be a real whooz . :)

This last week has been really busy,

Saturday, I took the morning to do some much needed house cleaning, then that afternoon miss Gidget and I went to Winter park ( my favorite shopping place) and visited with Michelle and Jax ( gidget's breeder and her puppy) . We went into my favorite store Bull Fish, I love this store, Winter Park is such a dog friendly place they have bowls all around where the dogs can get a drink. So this store is where i get all of my puppies bake goods and other goodies. They also sell neat stuff for people too. they have a neat assortment of wines and other gourmet foods.

there i was with Gidget and Michelle with Jax and we were the talk of the whole store everyone wanted to know what kind of dogs did we have? Gidget was a big hit everyone wanted to pet her, everyone wanted to know what kind of dog she was. then when they would see Jax a full grown toy aussie they would go oh my where can i get one. So needless to say MIchelle handed out lots of cards.

We then went walking around and Michelle treated me to lunch at this Italian restaurant it was great.

After that Gidget and i were on our way to a puppy party , she had a blast, we saw Boomer whom we met when Taz use to go to these puppy party. Boomer has gotten big since the last time we saw him. He was in the small puppy group when we first met him this time he was in the big puppy group. He had really taken a growing spurt, this last month.

Gidget had fun playing, but unlike Taz if a big dog comes near here and even acts like they are going to get aggressive she lets them know real quick i may be small but dynamite comes in small packages ( that's my girl) don't mess with me. :)

someone heard yep at this golden who was trying to bug her, and said that is Gidget, they say at daycare she is the same way.

So come Saturday night Gidget was a very tired little lady.

Sunday was the lay around day or so I thought apparently on Saturday while i was at the puppy party the TV broke OH NO!!!

So needless to say Sunday was spent TV shopping.

Monday i continue my orientation at work, it rained , Tuesday i continue my orientation it rained, Wednesday i continue my orientation it rained. Thursday i actually went and worked last night it rained. Needless to say it has rain and just not a sprinkle it rained Florida rain. downpours Thunder, lightning. all that fun stuff, Golf courses did not get much business this week.

Last night was my first night on the unit, it was interesting to say the least, and i am not talking about the patients. :) I walk in and there greeting me is a lizard named spot, not just a little lizard a huge one. okay not that huge but bigger than i am comfortable with. He belonged to one of the nurses. The clients loved him. this same co-worker has many exotic animals and is known to bring them in from time to time. I am wondering what will be waiting for me today. :) If it is a snake i may be not working tonight. :)

I went and picked up our pottery that was done while the my grandsons were here i will include pictures of what we did.

While i have been writing this blog , i have been listening to Nancy Pelosi digging her hole deeper. She needs to learn how to keep her mouth shut if she is not going to tell the truth. Okay that is my political opinion of the day.

I hope everyone has a great memorial weekend, keep in your prayers those who have fought and lost their lives for us to live this great life that we are living.

Peace,

hi

ere's how this test is going to work. there are going to be 4 groups of 3 words. first pick the group of words that is most like you, then find group that is second most like you, then pick the group third most like you and finally select the group that is least like you. don't double up answers (picking the same group twice), it'll screw up your score. answer every question. it may seem long, but there's only really five questions, it just takes four answers for each one. dig it?
1. pick the one most like you.
active, opportunistic, spontaneous
parental, traditional, responsible
authentic, harmonious, compassionate
versatile, inventive, competent
2. pick the one that's second most like you.
active, opportunistic, spontaneous
parental, traditional, responsible

3. pick the one that's third most like you.
active, opportunistic, spontaneous
parental, traditional, responsible

versatile, inventive, competent
4. pick the one that's least like you.
active, opportunistic, spontaneous

Here is another form of the test i tried to put up last night i hope you had a moment and took it.

So today was exciting i got my schedule for my new job i will be up with the criminals. should be interesting.

I also got my first gift as a nurse. I got a nurse's week gift from my new job how cool is that.

We have had rain every day this week and driving is not fun here as it is but when it rains i don't know it bring out the crazies.

My little puppies have been having a great week they and Stryker have gone to doggy day care everyday. Stryker is such a grouch , but all the techs like him because he has this attitude.

Gidget and Taz come home worn out they have had so much fun playing with all the other puppies there. Poor Snoopydoop has to stay at home , although i think secretly he is kind of enjoying the peace and quiet.

snoop and the Guinea pigs. :)

It was so neat today to sign my paperwork with LPN behind my name. it is just so neat. :)

So it is Adam and Chris in American Idol, i have no feeling other way, they are both great.

Tonight is Greys Anatomy i wonder what is going to happen is Izzy going to live?

Tomorrow is Friday i am looking forward to tomorrow i have the weekend off, i want to really concentrate on my house.

i am so behind as far as plants and all that to get busy with. I have felt so out of place for so long here, that i think i am finally starting to feel grounded here. I still miss all my friends, but i do not think i am greiving anymore and that is what i have been doing for a year now.

I am hoping this job will help me and if i start sewing again things will start to be right again.

In the meantime, i am here, i am blue , and life is going as good as it can be. peace

Greetings from burning wet Florida,

This week during training we took this personality test ( it is a mental health job) they said . they meaning the person who was giving the test said this was the best test to see what your personality is.
I have to agree my color described me to a tee.

So I thought everyone would like to take this test.

So here is the test.

Discovering your Personality Colour

the History of Nurses Week

Nurses Week History

Dates: May 6-12

Birthday of Florence Nightingale: May 12

Florence Nightingale Pledge:

"I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.

Although not enacted until 1974, the history of Nurses week begins in 1953 when Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent a proposal to President Eisenhower. Her proposal was to proclaim "Nurses Day" to be celebrated in October of 1954. There was no proclamation rendered. However, in 1954 National Nurses Week was observed marking the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingales's mission to Crimea.

In 1974, after the proclamation by the International Council of Nurses that May 12 would be "International Nurse Day," a week was designated as "National Nurse Week" and was so proclaimed by President Nixon.

In 1978, May 6 was declared as "Nurses Day" by New Jersey Governor Brendon Byrne. In 1981 a resolution was initiated by nurses in New Mexico to have May 6 declared "National Recognition Day for Nurses." This proposal was promoted by the ANA Board of Directors and in 1982, with a joint resolution, the United States Congress designated May 6 to be "National Recognition Day for Nurses." This proposal was then signed by President Reagan, making May 6 the official "National Recognition Day for Nurses."

This day was expanded to a week (May 6-12) in 1990 by the ANA Board of Directors. The week begins on May 6 with the "National Recognition Day for Nurses" and with a week long celebration, ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, long considered to be the founder of present day nursing. These dates were made permanent in 1993 and in all subsequent years, "National Nurses Week" has been celebrated from May 6-12.

This week was created to honor the nurses that give care to millions of patients each day of the year. This year's celebration includes a recognition by the ANA to promote a national awareness of the shortage of nurses nationwide. CrashCards would like to join with the ANA in honoring you, the millions of nurses that serve with open hearts and "The True Spirit of Caring."

Nurses's week

Greetings from hot , wet and muggy Florida.

This week has been exciting to say the least. Wednesday 5/6 was my birthday, this was also the start of Nurses Week, i am including the history of nurses week in this blog in case you are interested. Nurses week starts on May 6 and ends on May 12 Florence Nightingale Birthday which is also the international day of Nursing.

When i was a young girl i use to read these books from weekly reader , we were there at the battle of the bulge. I am such a history nut that these books were my favorite book to read. They would have biographies of different famous people , i learned a lot. Anyway the two books that i remember the best were the ones on the lives of Florence Nightingale Mother of Nursing, and Clara Barton founder of the Red Cross.

These two woman were my role models. I loved the way Clara Barton went on to the battle field and took care of the soldiers during the civil war. My favorite story was when she went into this one makeshift hospital for the soldiers she went in and opened all the windows saying they need fresh air. I read a real interesting book this summer called the glory cloak it was about Louisa M. Alcott and Clara Barton . Apparently during the civil war Louisa M. Alcott was a nurse and she even wrote a book about it called HOSPITAL SKETCHES. The book of THE GLORY CLOAK was fictional but it was based on fact. Clara Barton was the first person to find out for the families of the dead soldiers what happened to their loved one. She had an office and a cabinet position designated by Abraham Lincoln.

Another little tid bit of information, i think you might find interesting. Do you remember Country Joe and the Fish , they sang a lot of anti war songs during the 60's . Anyway Country Joe thinks nurses are the neatest things. He has a collection of Nurse dolls that he collects as well he has this web site dedicated to Florence Nightingale and nurses. Here is a article about his fascination with Florence Nightingale :http://include.nurse.com/article/20090309/CA02/103090166.

Another neat thing about this week is that i started my first job as an honest to God nurse this week today as a matter of fact.

I do not know if I am going to like the job yet or not, i am excited about it.

So we celebrated my birthday Wednesday, with my grandsons and Ian my son, and we went to The Rain Forest Cafe by Animal Kingdom At Disney World. the boys had a good time , and it was a nice night.

Saturday was Jackie's birthday he turned five, his dad my son Jeremy came down from NC. and we went to T-Rex restaurant at Downtown Disney to eat and celebrate Mr. Jackie's birthday. the next day mothers day they all went home.

I have to say though i did have a nice mothers day, i got to spend it with my grandsons at least the morning and my oldest son. then my other two children Pegi and Matthew both called me. It was great.

My little Gidget is getting so big, she is so cute. I will post some pictures soon.

In the meantime i hope you wish a nurse in your life a happy nurse's week and to all my friends who are nurses, Happy Nurses Week .

Peace,

Happy Cinco de mayo

Hello from sunny Florida. Today was one of those days. My grandsons woke up with a case of the whinnies. Oh My Gosh, nothing went right .

So I decided that I am not going to let this get to me. We started out the day with taking Miss Gidget to the vet for her puppy shots. Everyone goo goo over here. she is quite charming and cute. :)

Came home and got ready to go to the pottery place. This place is a favorite of my grandsons and Me. It is this place that has unpainted pottery to paint. We love going there and we make it a must place to go when ever they come down.

At this pottery place they have this cool chair rail with different tiles that people have painted and donated to the pottery place it is so cool.

So when i saw it , I thought where can i put that in my house. Well guess what i found a place for one in my guest room, and each guest who is coming to visit has to make a trip with me to the pottery place and make a square.

My son Matt and his wife Kristen made one and now Henry and Jackson made one. I think it will be fun to watch it come along and see all the different tiles that people make.

So that is what we painted today, that and two gifts for their mom Lara, and then they each got to paint something for themselves.

Jackie did a soccer bank and Henry did a castle. Henry cracks me up, he loves pink , everything pink, he loves Dora the explorer this drives his dad crazy ( my son Jeremy) Jeremy has grown since his oldest son was born charlie had a thing for shoes he loved to look at woman's shoes and carry a purse. :)

Henry just likes pink so the last time he was here he got a pink tricycles with a Dora Explorer helmet. then when we went to Disney and he made his own hat , it was all pink and the ladies at the register and doing the embroidery kept saying are you sure you want Henry on this hat. Yes we do:) Hey he is feeling his female side. I encourage it because it drive his dad crazy.

I have to talk now about my twin grandsons. They went to there first prom this past weekend, Dylan went with a girl who he was dating for awhile and had broken up with, ugh I hope they had a good time. In the pictures he is the one with the gold tie in black.

Tyler went with a friend, he is the one all in black. Dylan is the self assured i am here one. Tyler is the one who is more careful and not quite as sure of himself.

They both are smart and very good looking boys, they have carried a 4.0 average all through junior high and high school, and this is while playing soccer full time and kicking for the HS football team. Yes i am very proud of these guys. Next year they will be seniors it will be an interesting year for them.

On the Swine Flu front, we had our fist case in Seminole county which is just right around the corner from us here in orange county. I am surprised we have not seen more cases. I mean Orlando there is every nationality here coming to see the mouse.

Plus we have a huge population of Mexicans here. I wonder how the mouse is handling this swine flu thing. The school here where the student is going to that has the swine flu closed.

I do not know is this flu worse than any other flu, i mean when i think of all the illnesses we had in my childhood it makes you wonder are we doing more harm but guarding everyone from these diseases, or are we doing good. I had chicken pox, mealese , mumps. all in the first grade. I am still here to tell the tale. I am not saying the vaccines are not good, i am just saying that are we doing our immune system any favors by not letting us be exposed to some of these bugs. i don't know ,

I do know however if i am going to sick with the flu i would rather have to be sick here in the USA than in Mexico. There is a reason why they had so many deaths. When i lived in Turkey i saw a lot of stuff that you would just shake your head and say no.

That story is fro another day, In the meantime wash those hands. Peace.

Carnival !!!!!

Tonight it is Sunday and it has been a great weekend. Friday after driving up to South Carolina to pick up my grandsons on Thursday, and back to Florida on Friday.

We got into Florida like Friday afternoon about 4:30, we kind of cleaned up and went to the carnival at Ian's school.
This was fun, I think all the boys had fun. Henry got to ride a house and right after he got on the horse had to pee. I saw where the saying came from when someone says i have to pee like a horse. this horse pee came out like a fire hose and he had enough pee to fill a big bucket.

They had a silent auction and Ian and I put bids on a autograph magic basketball, and a whole summer of Jazzersize for me. I got called on Sunday that we got the items. :)

Saturday was a lazy day at home, i missed my little dogs so i spent some time with them had fun watching the boys in the pool.

just a really nice weekend.

Driving home i had a lot of time to think about things, the boys watched movies so all i had time for was to think.

I was thinking about friendship and how important it is to me. There is this film out about Military brats, which i am one of them. It is hosted by Kris kristosterfen he is also one of us. They talked about in this film about how military brats have a common bond that is unique to the military brat.

We have lived for the most part all over the world, made friends, knew what it was like to have your father gone all the time.

Knew what it was like to live on base. I have recently like in the last 7 years or so got in touch with the majority of my very good friends from my past. I have tried very hard to keep the relationship up with them, because i did not want to loose those friends again. Let me rephrase this i did not want to lose them in my life again. We all took off where we left off.

there are some for whatever reason have left and have not heard from them again. then there are others who are still very much in my life .

There was a saying in the 70's it actually came from a Goldie hawn movie, "Butterflies are free" which came from a Charles Dickens novel. fFriends they are free to come and go like butterflies. And those who are your true friends are the ones that come in and out never really losing you. the friends i have now are people who i have known for a long time, and they are my true Friends.

Sometimes i think people stay in touch with you out of obligations , i hope no one feels that way with me. Life is too short to be friends with someone out of obligation, I also think that is not really being honest with yourself or your friends. I am in touch with people who i want to be in touch with,

I am so thankful all the opportunities i have had getting back in touch with everyone. I will try my hardest, to not loose touch with them again. I have become aware how important these friends are in my life, and i hope they feel the same. However if there is anyone out there just going through the motions because of obligation or whatever. YOU do not owe me anything there is nothing anyone owes me. Okay that is my sermon for the day :)

As for last blog on the health care system , and talking about old friends. Cindy my oldest and dearest friend gosh we have been friends since 4th grade when we were both students in a one room school house in Havre Montana , she is now a community health care nurse who runs a community clinic. This is what she had to say about the health care system in the USA.

Gosh Cindy we have known each other a long time, here is Cindy's comments:

Vicki,

Part of Obama’s health care plan is to have a sort of universal coverage but not the way that Canada has it. People will be able to choose plans. There is a sort of a three part stepping stone to his plan.

1. Greatest need. Bring everybody in from the cold. Affordable health insurance for the 45 million uninsured and 25 million under insured.

2. Expand Access to Care – Even with an insurance card people still need a place to go for everyone and that place must provide a cost effective/quality care primary care “medical home model”.

3. Reinvent and revitalize health work force. There needs to be more diversity in the healthcare workforce, have a stimulated workforce, and make it more desirable to go to underserved areas to serve those populations.

I am taking a health care administration class and have three classes left. The last one was a policy class and it was perfect as I was in DC last month and at a Community Health Center Policy meeting. I have learned a lot about the president’s initiative and I am really excited because Community Health Centers are part of the plan. There are still a lot of questions I have about the President, but at least I get some extra funding and support because of all the data collected from years past that community health centers save taxpayer dollars even with the money the feds are putting into the system they save because of people going to emergency rooms or waiting until the chronic disease is so bad they have to be hospitalized etc. You should check at a community health center to see if they have any job openings.

Okay that is my blog for today, i hope you have a wonderful day, wash those hands. Peace.
