Tonight it is Sunday and it has been a great weekend. Friday after driving up to South Carolina to pick up my grandsons on Thursday, and back to Florida on Friday.
We got into Florida like Friday afternoon about 4:30, we kind of cleaned up and went to the carnival at Ian's school.
This was fun, I think all the boys had fun. Henry got to ride a house and right after he got on the horse had to pee. I saw where the saying came from when someone says i have to pee like a horse. this horse pee came out like a fire hose and he had enough pee to fill a big bucket.
They had a silent auction and Ian and I put bids on a autograph magic basketball, and a whole summer of Jazzersize for me. I got called on Sunday that we got the items. :)
Saturday was a lazy day at home, i missed my little dogs so i spent some time with them had fun watching the boys in the pool.
just a really nice weekend.
Driving home i had a lot of time to think about things, the boys watched movies so all i had time for was to think.
I was thinking about friendship and how important it is to me. There is this film out about Military brats, which i am one of them. It is hosted by Kris kristosterfen he is also one of us. They talked about in this film about how military brats have a common bond that is unique to the military brat.
We have lived for the most part all over the world, made friends, knew what it was like to have your father gone all the time.
Knew what it was like to live on base. I have recently like in the last 7 years or so got in touch with the majority of my very good friends from my past. I have tried very hard to keep the relationship up with them, because i did not want to loose those friends again. Let me rephrase this i did not want to lose them in my life again. We all took off where we left off.
there are some for whatever reason have left and have not heard from them again. then there are others who are still very much in my life .
There was a saying in the 70's it actually came from a Goldie hawn movie, "Butterflies are free" which came from a Charles Dickens novel. fFriends they are free to come and go like butterflies. And those who are your true friends are the ones that come in and out never really losing you. the friends i have now are people who i have known for a long time, and they are my true Friends.
Sometimes i think people stay in touch with you out of obligations , i hope no one feels that way with me. Life is too short to be friends with someone out of obligation, I also think that is not really being honest with yourself or your friends. I am in touch with people who i want to be in touch with,
I am so thankful all the opportunities i have had getting back in touch with everyone. I will try my hardest, to not loose touch with them again. I have become aware how important these friends are in my life, and i hope they feel the same. However if there is anyone out there just going through the motions because of obligation or whatever. YOU do not owe me anything there is nothing anyone owes me. Okay that is my sermon for the day :)
As for last blog on the health care system , and talking about old friends. Cindy my oldest and dearest friend gosh we have been friends since 4th grade when we were both students in a one room school house in Havre Montana , she is now a community health care nurse who runs a community clinic. This is what she had to say about the health care system in the USA.
Gosh Cindy we have known each other a long time, here is Cindy's comments:
Vicki,
Part of Obama’s health care plan is to have a sort of universal coverage but not the way that Canada has it. People will be able to choose plans. There is a sort of a three part stepping stone to his plan.
1. Greatest need. Bring everybody in from the cold. Affordable health insurance for the 45 million uninsured and 25 million under insured.
2. Expand Access to Care – Even with an insurance card people still need a place to go for everyone and that place must provide a cost effective/quality care primary care “medical home model”.
3. Reinvent and revitalize health work force. There needs to be more diversity in the healthcare workforce, have a stimulated workforce, and make it more desirable to go to underserved areas to serve those populations.
I am taking a health care administration class and have three classes left. The last one was a policy class and it was perfect as I was in DC last month and at a Community Health Center Policy meeting. I have learned a lot about the president’s initiative and I am really excited because Community Health Centers are part of the plan. There are still a lot of questions I have about the President, but at least I get some extra funding and support because of all the data collected from years past that community health centers save taxpayer dollars even with the money the feds are putting into the system they save because of people going to emergency rooms or waiting until the chronic disease is so bad they have to be hospitalized etc. You should check at a community health center to see if they have any job openings.
Okay that is my blog for today, i hope you have a wonderful day, wash those hands. Peace.
